LOS ANGELES — The Millennium Armenian Children’s Vaccine Fund (MACVF) announced today that it will be co-financing the distribution of the Pentavalent Vaccine with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia (MoH). This five year program is part of a major financing arrangement led by Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI) around the world and will commence in Armenia in 2011.

Public Radio of Armenia: MACVF Receives $10,000 Donation from Geragos & Geragos to Bring Life-Saving Vaccines to Armenia’s Children

Getting into the Christmas spirit and garnering further support to alleviate Armenia’s vulnerability to vaccine shortages, the Millennium Armenian Children’s Vaccine Fund (MACVF) received a $10,000 donation from the Law offices of Geragos & Geragos to purchase life-saving vaccines for Armenia’s children. The donation is derived from a law suit settlement, which was filed against insurance companies on behalf Armenian Americans who purchased insurance policies when they immigrated to the United States during the Armenian genocide but were originally denied the right to collect on their policies. Part of the settlement was also earmarked for Armenian charities.

United Nations Development Programme: Visits in the UAE

UNDP visit to AUEOn March 29, the UNDP delegation traveled to the United Arab Emirates for a series of gatherings and roundtable discussions.

First on the agenda was a meeting with a group of Armenian students in Sharjah, held at the hall of the St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Church. During her presentation here, Ms. Vidal urged the youth to place its diverse talents at the service of Armenia’s economic progress and continued democratization, by taking an active role in various development programs. The event was also attended by Mr. Kurkjian and Mr. Raffy Ardhaldjian, chief volunteer officer of the Millennium Children’s Vaccine Fund (MCVF) and chairman of the Ani and Narod Memorial Foundation.

Aztag: MACVF Continues to Support Health Partnerships in Armenia

The mass Measles and Rubella (MR) immunization campaign will target around 1.25 million persons in Armenia aged from 6-27. To be launched in October of 2007 the MR campaign is initiated in close partnership with the MACVF, UNICEF, the Vishnevskaya-Rostropovich Foundation, GAVI, WHO and the Ministry of Health of Armenia.

Measles is the greatest vaccine-preventable killer of children in the world today and the eighth leading cause of death among people of all ages worldwide. However, immunization mass campaigns are proven to be an effective solution for preventing such deadly diseases. At the same time, initiating such ambitious projects usually becomes a difficult financial challenge.

ANMF and Golden Apricot Film Festival Awarded the Prix for Best Film

Yerevan, Armenia (July 17) – The Ani & Narod Memorial Foundation (ANMF) and the Yerevan International Film Festival (Golden Apricot) announced today the recipient of the “Mark Sarkis Prix for Best Film” in the Armenian Panorama category which was awarded at the Second Annual Yerevan International Film Festival in Yerevan, Armenia on July 17, 2005.

Designed to increase awareness and generate greater interest in Armenian independent filmmakers, the prize was created by the Ardhaldjian family as a tribute honoring their beloved son and brother, Mark Sarkis Ardhaldjian, an aspiring filmmaker who passed away in 1995, at the tender age of 21. “While Mark’s talents were exceptional in our eyes, we are certain that there are many talented individuals of Armenian decent around the world waiting to be discovered. We thank the Golden Apricot Film Festival for providing us the opportunity to act on Mark’s passion,” explained Raffy Ardhaldjian, Mark’s brother and chief volunteer officer of ANMF.
